Handyman Assaults Elderly Woman After Demanding More Money

 

VIDOR, TX – An elderly woman was assaulted in her home by the same handyman she had hired.

According to the Vidor Police Department, officers responded to the 800 block of Ferndale for reports of an injured person.

At the scene, officers found a 74-year-old victim with significant injuries.

She told officers the handyman she had previously hired had returned and broke into her house.

The handyman, identified as 40-year-old Jason Lee Brown, was paid for his services but returned and demanded more money.

When the victim refused to give him more money, Brown began to beat the elderly woman.

Brown then stole the victim's 2011 Lincoln Navigator and drove away before the police arrived at the scene.

Several hours later a VPD officer spotted the stolen Navigator. The officer followed the driver and Brown was taken into custody.

Brown was charged with Criminal Trespass Warrant and Aggravated Robbery.

The elderly woman was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
