Teen Tragically Electrocuted in Clyde Lake

CLYDE, TX – The Clyde Police Department released a statement this morning describing the events leading up to the death of 18 year old Trevor Cate.

Cate was in Clyde Lake attempting to help tow a disabled sail boat he had been riding in back to shore when the main sail clipped a power line which then fell into the water. The power line electrified the water paralyzing Cate who began to fall beneath the surface while the others still within the boat could do nothing but look on for fear of being electrocuted themselves. These individuals then called Clyde Police who proceeded to cut off power to the fallen line and pull Trevor from the water.

Trevor was transported from the scene to Hendricks Medical Center where he received treatment before he ultimately passed this morning.

"Trevor is a 2021 graduate of Clyde High School. . . Please keep Trevor’s family, the other individuals involved in this incident, and our first responders in your prayers." said Clyde Police in Official Statement
