SAN ANGELO, TX — The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for east central Tom Green County until 5 p.m. Wednesday.
At 4:08 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was detected by radar over Lake Nasworthy, moving northeast at 15 mph. The storm is producing wind gusts up to 60 mph, with potential damage expected to roofs, siding and trees, according to the warning.
The storm was forecast to reach San Angelo around 4:15 p.m.
Residents are advised to move indoors immediately, as damaging winds and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning are occurring with the storm. The weather service cautioned that lightning can be deadly and that torrential rain may lead to flash flooding. Drivers are urged not to attempt travel through flooded roadways.
The affected area includes Tom Green County.
