Number of Reported Missing in Kerr County Flood Drops to Three

KERRVILLE, TX — The number of individuals reported missing from the July 4 flood in Kerr County has dropped to three, according to the Kerr County Flood Disaster Joint Information Center.

The reduction comes after "extensive" follow-up efforts by state and local agencies, which verified the safety of many people previously listed as missing. The initial list included more than 160 names.

“We are profoundly grateful to the more than 1,000 local, state, and federal authorities who have worked tirelessly in the wake of the devastating flood that struck our community,” Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice said. “Thanks to their extraordinary efforts, the number of individuals previously listed as missing has dropped from over 160 to three.”

Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly credited the progress to coordinated search and rescue operations, investigative work, and the commitment of emergency responders. “Your dedication, professionalism, and compassion have brought comfort and answers to so many,” Kelly said.

Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring, Jr. said the city’s thoughts remain with the families still awaiting news. “We will continue to stand with them as efforts persist,” Herring said.

Recovery operations are ongoing across the Guadalupe River watershed, involving local, state, national, and international search teams working to reunite the missing with their families.
