Texas Girl Drowns In Apartment Complex Pool

HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Police Department is investigating the tragic drowning of a 5-year-old girl found late Thursday night at a swimming pool in a West Houston apartment complex.

According to Lt. A. Khan with HPD, officers from the Westside Patrol Division responded to a drowning call just after midnight.

A resident who went to the pool for a late-night swim discovered the child in the water and immediately began performing CPR in an attempt to save her, Khan said.

Emergency crews from the Houston Fire Department arrived shortly afterward and pronounced the child dead at the scene.

Authorities said the girl lived in an apartment located behind the pool. It remains unclear how long she had been in the water.

The investigation is ongoing, and HPD’s homicide division is handling the case. All information is considered preliminary at this time.
