San Angelo Man Shot and Arrested After Attacking Ex-Girlfriend

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man was shot by his ex-girlfriend and arrested after he allegedly attacked and robbed her.

According to court documents, on July 22, 2025, San Angelo police officers were dispatched to Shannon Medical Center, 120 E. Harris Ave,, regarding a shooting victim.

Officers learned that an alleged robbery suspect, identified as Christopher Cannon, 34, had been transported to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, while a woman had also been transported to Shannon with blunt force injuries. The responding officers discovered that the female victim and Cannon had been involved in the same incident.

An investigator was contacted for further investigation and, upon his arrival, he learned that the victim and Cannon had been in a dating relationship that ended on July 21, 2025. The victim said she was staying at the Ramada Inn on North Bryant Boulevard, and Cannon had been harassing her all day. The officer did not get any further information out of the victim.

Officers spoke with a witness who was with the victim. They were told the two were walking on Hudson Street going to the Ramada Inn when Cannon showed up and began attacking the victim. Cannon had apparently made a weapon out of a metal bike peg and a sock. The witness said she told Cannon to stop, but he told her to shut up or he would beat her as well. Cannon allegedly told the victim to “give him everything she had."

The witness began to run down the street screaming and trying to call for help. During this time, the witness heard gunshots. She said the victim had a firearm, and she saw Cannon running away with the victim’s bag.

The investigator spoke with the victim, who stated that Cannon had cheated on her and told her to leave because he did not want her there. When Cannon woke up the next day, he was upset the victim was not there. He found the victim walking in the road and attacked her with a bike peg in a sock. She knew what the object was as Cannon had showed it to her the night before.

The victim said that Cannon told her that if she did not stop disrespecting him, he would assault her. She also said that Cannon had been calling the hotel room she was staying in, harassing her, and saying he was going to send her to the emergency room. The victim retrieved a gun from a friend due to the threats Cannon was making.

When the victim was walking down Hudson Street, Cannon appeared and struck her in the head with the makeshift weapon. He continued beating her even after she begged him to stop and she went to the ground. While Cannon was beating her, she said he attempted to take her belongings, so she pulled out the gun and shot him. After that, he ran away with her bag of toiletries.

The investigator observed multiple injuries to the victim that included lacerations to the back of her head that had to be surgically closed with staples. The victim also had bruising to her hands, legs, and arms.

Then, the investigator responded to the 600 block of West 19th Street where Cannon had run to after being shot. After being given consent to enter the property, the investigator located the victim’s bag and a black sock that contained a metal object.

Cannon was arrested for aggravated robbery on Aug. 7, 2025, and is currently being held in the Tom Green County Jail on $153,000 bond.
