SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State men’s basketball program has added its fifth signee for the 2025-26 recruiting class with the addition of Ashraf Barsham, head coach Vinay Patel announced Thursday.
Barsham, a 6-foot-5 guard from Amarillo, joins the Rams after two seasons at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon, where he was a two-time Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Defensive Player of the Year.
“We are extremely fortunate to add a player like Ashraf to our roster for the upcoming year,” Patel said. “He brings a high level of energy to both sides of the floor and does the little things that help a team win.”
Last season, Barsham averaged 18.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game en route to First Team NWAC East Region honors. His standout performance came in the conference tournament on March 7, when he scored 35 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in an overtime win over Clark.
A graduate of Tascosa High School, Barsham played under head coach Steve Jackson, a former Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Patel noted that background is a key influence on Barsham’s defensive instincts and rebounding ability.
As a freshman, Barsham was named to the Second Team NWAC East Region.
"Ashraf is a team-first guy who loves being in the gym. He can score in a variety of ways and knows how to use his athleticism to his advantage," said Patel. "I'm excited about his potential and confident in his ability to help our program right away. Our fans are going to enjoy watching him play over the next two years!"
