Davis Martin Allows 1 Hit in 6 Innings, White Sox Still Lose

CHICAGO, IL — Former San Angelo Central star Davis Martin had his best outing yet in the major leagues Sunday, a performance in which he allowed only one hit in six innings.

It still wasn’t enough to earn Martin a win, however, as the Chicago White Sox squandered the 2-0 lead he left with and lost 6-2 to the Kansas City Royals.

The White Sox have the second-worst record in MLB at 44-80, which has limited Martin to a record of 4-9 on the mound this year.

He has had a solid season, however, with a 3.94 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP.

On Sunday, he threw 57 of his 87 pitches for strikes. He struck out four and walked three.

Martin was out for more than a month this season with a forearm strain. He has pitched in five games since returning and earned wins in two of those starts.

He’s slated to pitch again Saturday at home against the Minnesota Twins.
