Odessa Police Arrest Man in Possession of Stolen Firearms From San Angelo

 

ODESSA, TX — Odessa Police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with stolen firearms that originated in San Angelo.

Nathaniel Childress was charged with two counts of felon in possession of a firearm, a third-degree felony, after a traffic stop in Odessa early Friday morning.

According to police, at about 2:41 a.m. on Aug. 29, officers with the department’s K9 Unit, Patrol Division, and Intelligence Unit were conducting directed patrols in the Oakwood and JBS Parkway area due to recent burglary activity. Officers stopped a vehicle traveling without headlights during nighttime hours, and the driver was identified as Childress.

Investigators later determined that Childress, a convicted felon, was in possession of multiple stolen firearms. He was arrested and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

The Odessa Police Department said it is coordinating with the San Angelo Police Department regarding the firearms. Additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.
