RICHARDSON, TX — Angelo State collected Lone Star Conference honors on Monday as defensive end Owen Seaver was named Defensive Player of the Week and wide receiver Zeek Freeman earned Special Teams Player of the Week following standout performances in the Rams' 31-20 win over Eastern New Mexico.
Seaver, a graduate student from Lampasas, Texas, tallied a team-high eight tackles, including three tackles for loss, a sack and a fumble recovery. He is the second Ram this season to receive Defensive Player of the Week recognition from the conference.
Freeman, a senior from Grand Prairie, Texas, made an immediate impact on special teams by returning a kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown just 13 seconds after Eastern New Mexico tied the game at 7. It marked the first kickoff return for a touchdown in the Lone Star Conference this season.
The Rams (3-0) return to LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field this Saturday for Family Day, hosting Western New Mexico. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
