The Angelo State Rambelles are off to a strong start as they look to defend their Lone Star Conference title after claiming their fifth regular-season crown and third tournament championship in program history last year. Sophomore Wrilyn Shippey scored the first goal of the season, marking the first of her collegiate career. Offensively, the Rambelles have showcased their depth with five different goal scorers so far this season, including Abby James, Sanai Stewart, Emily Thames, Christina Clark and Shippey.
Defensively, the team has posted two shutouts in four matches, allowing only two goals all season. Senior leaders Harper Saxon and Melyna Martinez were selected as team captains for 2025, anchoring a veteran squad that returned several key contributors. Among them is Tina Clark, who earned All-American honors last year for her standout performance on one of the top defensive units in the country.
The Rambelles are guided by head coach Travis McCorkle, now in his 18th season at the helm, alongside longtime assistant Harold Munoz in his ninth year. New to the staff are graduate assistants Nayeli Celedon and Isabel Robben. The Rambelles went 14-2-5 last season, including an undefeated 10-0-3 mark in conference play, and advanced to the NCAA South Central Regional final for the first time in school history. Angelo State was picked to finish second in the LSC Preseason Poll behind Dallas Baptist and has made the conference tournament every year since 2010.
