WALL, TX — The No. 2 Wall Hawks (3-0) make the long road trip to Monahans on Friday, September 19, to take on the Loboes (0-3). After the Hawks routed a ranked Jim Ned squad a week ago, Wall looks to complete its three-game road trip with another win on Friday.
Hear from Wall's Head Coach Craig Slaughter after practice on Wednesday below:
Wall continued its road stretch last week when the Hawks systematically dismantled a ranked rival in Tuscola. Despite a slower start against Jim Ned than in previous weeks, Wall pushed through to firmly defeat the Indians 24-0.
Quarterback Landon York had another stellar performance despite some early drops by the Hawks' receiving corps and an interception. York finished with 225 passing yards and three touchdowns against a stingy defense that hardly allowed the Hawks to play comfortably on offense. York has now topped 700 yards (702) on the season. More impressively, he has a 9:2, touchdown to interception ratio. The Hawks' senior quarterback continues to turn heads and needs another good performance on Friday night.

Monahans should be an interesting matchup for the Hawks. While not as talented as a team like Jim Ned, the Loboes boast a proud program with a history of success. However, Monahans has struggled this season against a slate full of playoff teams from a year ago. The Hawks' defense should feast against a Loboes' team that has only managed 13 points so far this year. Monahans dropped games to Shallowater, Canyon Randall, and, most recently, Lubbock-Cooper Liberty through three weeks. Unfortunately for the Loboes, the games have not been close. Despite this, look for Monahans to come out in front of their home crowd hungry for their first win.
While Monahans might be motivated, motivation does not translate into points. The six points against Shallowater and seven points against Liberty will not cut it against arguably the best defense in 3A-Division II. So far this season, this veteran Wall squad has allowed a total of 17 points. Exactly three of those points, against Brownwood, were allowed by the Hawks' starters. Senior Linebacker Jacob Braden leads all Hawks in tackles with 26 in 2025. Along with being the anchor for this defense, Braden continues to demonstrate that he can be relied on to steer this defense in the right direction.
No. 2 Wall and Monahans square off in Monahans at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
