AUSTIN, TX — Arch Manning accounted for five touchdowns as the Texas Longhorns rolled past Sam Houston 55-0 on Saturday night at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.
Manning completed 18 of 21 passes for 309 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for two more scores. It marked the sophomore’s fourth game in six career starts with at least three total touchdowns and his second straight with multiple rushing touchdowns.
Ryan Wingo was Manning’s top target, catching four passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns — his first career multi-touchdown game. Running back Christian Clark led Texas with 62 rushing yards and added a 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Texas scored on its first possession when Jerrick Gibson ran in from 13 yards out. Manning extended the lead with a 5-yard rushing score late in the first quarter before connecting with tight end Jordan Washington for a 32-yard touchdown early in the second. His second rushing touchdown, a 2-yard keeper, gave the Longhorns a 31-0 halftime lead — their largest since leading Florida by 35 at the break in 2024.
Manning opened the second half with a 53-yard strike to Wingo, then found him again from 13 yards out on the following drive. Bert Auburn Shipley added two field goals, extending his perfect streak with Texas to 5-for-5 and his overall make streak to 14 dating back to last season.
Texas travels to Gainesville next to face Florida on Oct. 4.
