RICHARDSON, TX — Angelo State junior defensive back Shamareon “Bobo” McKinnon was named Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, marking the third straight week a Ram has earned the honor.
McKinnon, an interdisciplinary studies major from Dillon, South Carolina, had a standout performance in No. 6 Angelo State’s 56-27 victory over Western New Mexico. He returned an interception 51 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, extending the Rams’ streak of games with at least one interception to 19. McKinnon also forced and recovered a fumble in the third quarter and finished with three solo tackles.
The Rams (4-0, 2-0 LSC) are off this week before hosting UT Permian Basin on Oct. 4 at 1st Community Credit Union Field at LeGrand Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
