SAN ANGELO, TX — The National Weather Service in San Angelo is warning of elevated fire weather conditions across the Concho Valley and Big Country through Tuesday as near-record heat and gusty winds raise wildfire risks ahead of late-week rain chances.
Highs Monday will reach the upper 80s to mid-90s, with some areas potentially breaking daily records. Southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts near 30 mph, and low humidity levels between 15% and 30% will contribute to the elevated fire danger.
Tuesday will stay warm and breezy, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s and northeast winds from 10 to 20 mph. Fire weather conditions are again expected before cooler, calmer weather arrives midweek.
By Wednesday, skies will remain mostly sunny with highs in the mid-80s, followed by increasing clouds and isolated showers Thursday and Friday.
Rain chances will range from 20% to 30%, with scattered thunderstorms possible during the afternoons and evenings.
Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and to exercise caution with any activity that could spark a fire.
