RICHARDSON, TX – Angelo State setter Gabi Ashcraft has been named the Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week following a string of standout performances that helped the Belles to an undefeated weekend.
Ashcraft, a sophomore Elementary Education major from Rockwall, Texas, averaged 8.20 assists per set as Angelo State hit .301 as a team across three victories.
At Western New Mexico, she tallied 23 assists, four digs, and a kill to help guide the Belles’ efficient offense. Returning home, Ashcraft turned in 28 assists, eight digs, two aces, and a kill in a sweep over Eastern New Mexico before capping the weekend with a career-best performance against No. 14 West Texas A&M, registering 31 assists and 13 digs.
Ashcraft has been in exceptional form throughout Angelo State’s current four-match winning streak, averaging 7.40 assists per set while helping the Belles post a .296 hitting percentage as a team.
This marks Ashcraft’s first career LSC weekly honor and the third weekly award overall for the Belles this season.
The No. 22-ranked Belles (17-7, 11-2 LSC) will return to the court this weekend with a pair of road matchups against Midwestern State and conference leader Lubbock Christian as they look to extend their winning streak and strengthen their postseason positioning.
