Angelo State Presents Low Brass Concert

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State University's Low Brass Studio program will present its fall concert on Friday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building at 2602 Dena Drive.

The concert will take place in the Carr EFA Building's Eldon Black Recital Hall and is free and open to the public. It will feature performances by the ASU Trombone Choir and ASU Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble, including instrumental solos by several students.

The musical program will include:

Trombone Choir

  • "Erghen Diado" arranged by Mike Dowden
  • "Panis Angelicus" by Cesar Franck, featuring soloist Michael Estrada
  • "Hurt" by Trent Reznor/Eric Whitacre
  • Suite from "Pirates of the Caribbean" by Claus Badelt

Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble

  • "Four Pieces" by Gordon Jacob
  • "Salvation is Created" by Pavel Tschesnokoff
  • Sabeltanz" by Aram Khatchaturian
  • "Believe Me If All These Endearing Young Charms" by Simone Mantia, featuring soloists Jacob Peterman and Karina Rojas on euphonium.

The ASU Low Brass Studio program is directed by Dr. JD Handshoe, assistant professor of music.
