SAN ANGELO, TX — Concho Valley PAWS is urgently seeking fosters and donations after 32 dogs were seized from a property in Bronte during an eviction, leaving the rescue unable to save every animal due to space limitations, the organization said Tuesday.
According to PAWS, adult dogs, juveniles and puppies were found crammed together without barriers on a trailer being transported to a clinic for euthanasia. Staff intervened after learning about the situation and were able to save 19 dogs — including 12 bottle-fed infants, six juveniles and one adult. The remaining dogs were euthanized before PAWS could load them.
The organization reported that many of the surviving dogs showed “concerning behaviors,” which they attributed to mothers attempting to protect infants in the confined trailer while other dogs stepped on them. PAWS described the seizure as one of the most disturbing they have encountered.
With no available space to house the animals, PAWS is asking the public for immediate help. Fosters with experience bottle-feeding puppies are especially needed, though the group said volunteers who are willing to learn can also help by taking an older puppy.
“We can’t do this without you,” the organization said, urging the community to help save the remaining dogs.
Anyone able to foster or assist is asked to text 325-656-3950.
