SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State volleyball team will be the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament next week.
The Rambelles learned their postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show on Monday evening.
ASU will face No. 6 seed Lubbock Christian in a rematch of the Lone Star Conference Tournament final last week in San Angelo, which the Belles won 25-19, 25-20, 25-22.
ASU also swept LCU in a regular-season meeting.
The Belles head into the regional tournament on an 11-match winning streak, including a perfect sweep through the LSC Tournament.
ASU still isn’t in the Top 25 national rankings, due to a slow start to the season when ASU only had a 13-7 record. The Belles are now at full strength and have a 24-7 record. They also have playoff experience after reaching the national semifinals last year.
The regional tournament will begin Thursday, Dec. 4, in Denver. Metro State-Denver earned the right to host the tournament as the No. 1 seed. Match times have not been announced yet.
The other teams in the field include No. 2 Colorado-Colorado Springs, No. 4 West Texas A&M, No. 5 Colorado State-Pueblo, No. 7 Colorado Mines and No. 8 Colorado Mesa.
