Area Lakes, Rivers Being Stocked With Rainbow Trout

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Lakes and rivers around the area are being stocked with rainbow trout over the next few months, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

At the Oakes Street Lake in San Angelo, 396 S. Irving St., more than 2,600 trout will be stocked during four planned dates. The first was Nov. 26, and the next one will be Tuesday, Dec. 23.

There are also stockings planned for Jan. 23 and Feb. 20.

At Knierim Lake in Bronte, 800 trout were stocked Tuesday, Dec. 16. It is the only planned stocking for that lake.

Other sites in the area include South Llano River State Park in Junction, where 2,200 fish will be stocked. It was first stocked Dec. 9 and has another one planned for Jan. 15.

The Llano River at FM 2389 outside Mason will have 2,750 fish stocked. The first one was Dec. 7, and another is planned for Jan. 24.

At Ruddick Park in Colorado City, 700 trout will be stocked. It was stocked just two days ago on Dec. 17 and will be visited again Jan. 13.

The daily limit is five trout, and there is no minimum length. Anglers need a valid fishing license if they are 18 or older.
