Mason, Wall Girls at No. 2 in State Basketball Rankings

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Mason Cowgirls joined the Wall Lady Hawks as the highest-ranked teams in the Concho Valley in this week’s state rankings.

With a record of 20-1, which includes a 12-game winning streak, Mason moved up to No. 2 in Class 2A. The Cowgirls’ only loss was a 44-38 setback against Ozona.

Wall remained at No. 2 in Class 3A. The Lady Hawks are 18-2 and have only lost to the top two teams in 4A, Canyon and Brock.

Another team off to a stellar start is Ballinger, which is 18-1 and ranked No. 8 in Class 2A. The Lady Cats’ only loss was against Bellevue, but they’ve responded with five wins in a row since then.

Other area teams in the state rankings include No. 23 Reagan County (14-4) and No. 24 Ozona (14-4) in Class 2A, along with No. 11 Irion County (14-2) in Class 1A.
