Statement by DPS Director McCraw on Memorial Day

AUSTIN – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Steven McCraw today issued the following statement regarding Memorial Day:

“Throughout the history of our nation, courageous men and women have pledged their lives to protecting and serving this country by joining the United States Military. It is because of their selfless service and bravery that we are blessed with the freedoms and security so cherished in this world.

“Memorial Day is a time for Americans to pay our respects to and honor all the extraordinary military members who have served this great nation – especially those who have given their lives to secure our safety. We are forever indebted for their tremendous sacrifices.

“Let us also remember the families who share in those sacrifices and who have committed their lives to supporting their service members no matter the cost. We are exceedingly grateful for the unwavering strength and dedication of our military families.

“At the Texas Department of Public Safety, we appreciate what it means to protect and serve others. This Memorial Day – and every day – we honor all the heroes who have selflessly answered that calling to defend the United States of America.”
