Winters Football Coach McCarty Steps Down

 

WINTERS, TX — Winters High School head football coach and athletic director Matt McCarty has resigned after 10 years with the school.

McCarty has accepted a new job as the defensive coordinator at New Home, a Class 2A school just south of Lubbock.

McCarty was 32-72 with the Blizzards and reached the playoffs four times from 2017 to 2020.

Winters was 2-8 last season and hasn’t had a winning season since 2018, when the Blizzards went 8-4 and won their last playoff game.
