City Council to Weigh Sidewalk Code Updates, Animal Services Recommendations and New Disc Golf Course

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo City Council will meet Tuesday, May 6, at 8:30 a.m. at the McNease Convention Center to consider updates to development regulations, a series of public works contracts, and proposals tied to quality-of-life projects and zoning.

Council members will also consider a license agreement for temporary groundwater monitoring wells, zoning changes for multiple properties across the city, and a Memorandum of Understanding to construct a 9-hole disc golf course at Jaime Padron Memorial Park.

Under the regular agenda, the council will hear updates from the Downtown San Angelo, Inc. and the Animal Services Task Force. Other items include:

  • A zoning ordinance for a new Cultural District Overlay Zone, introduced during a public hearing.

  • Approval of tax incentive funding for three private projects totaling more than $181,000 in the South TIRZ area.

The meeting will also include several second readings of ordinances, zoning changes, and annexations, including requests for neighborhood commercial use at Kirby Park and residential expansions in the Prestonwood Addition.

A closed session is scheduled to discuss real property transactions at multiple locations, including Park Street, Johnson Avenue, and airport hangars.

The meeting will begin with proclamations recognizing several national and local observances. These include National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 13–19), National Salvation Army Week (May 12–17), Motorcycle Awareness Month, and Historic Preservation Month.
