SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State baseball team walloped St. Edward’s 11-0 in seven innings Saturday to set up a winner-take-all game for the Lone Star Conference Tournament title.
ASU and St. Edward’s will meet again at 6 p.m. today at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
After dropping their opening game at the LSC Tournament, the Rams have now reeled off three straight wins to give themselves a chance at the title.
ASU, the nation’s No. 1-ranked team in NCAA Division II, improved to 43-8. St. Edward’s fell to 36-20.
ASU pitcher Nick Wilson was stellar in seven innings of work. He allowed only one hit while striking out six and walking one.
ASU’s Austin Beck also broke the conference record for career runs in Saturday’s first game when he crossed home plate for the 238th time in his Rams’ career.
The Rams scored three times in the third inning, three times in the fifth, and then five times in the sixth to end the game early.
ASU's offense produced 13 hits, led by two-hit games from Ethan Flodstrom, Jacob Guerrero, Lane Hutchinson and Justin Harris.
