SAN ANGELO, TX — Central High School senior Korbin Jastrow has been named the winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for Texas’s 11th Congressional District, Congressman August Pfluger announced Monday.
Jastrow’s piece, titled "The Exception," was selected through a blind judging process and will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol building for the next year. The annual competition invites high school students from across the district to submit original artwork. This year’s theme was “Texas to Me.”

"For yet another year, I was completely blown away by the talent and creativity of so many art submissions from students across TX-11," Rep. Pfluger said. "While it was hard to select a winner from all the incredible entries, in a blind selection process, the committee picked Ms. Jastrow's piece 'The Exception' because of its unique take on Texas agriculture, as well as its incorporation of our beloved Texas wildflowers. It’s a great combination of multiple parts of the district – embodying the rugged, agriculture-centric spirit of West Texas and the lush, colorful brightness of the Texas Hill Country, both of which I am honored to represent."

In her submission, Jastrow explained how she created the piece, saying, "The cow was drawn with pencil, then stamped with handmade stamps representing the Indian paintbrush and bluebonnets. The background was done with acrylic paint, and the shadows behind the cow were done with tissue paper."
