SAN ANGELO, TX — The Cody Johnson Band will be performing at the San Angelo Coliseum on December 7. Cody Johnson has turned himself into one of the most selling artist of his country generation.
Cody Johnson was born and raised in Sebastopal, a small town on Lake Livingston, northeast of Huntsville. He started playing guitar when he was 12-years-old with his family. He then learned how to play drums, and was a regular singer at his church. After high school, he pursued his love for bull riding, and toured for a short time. After finishing his bull riding career, he went to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. There he supervised inmates at the prison located in Huntsville.
The Cody Johnson Band at first was made up of him, his father Carl, and drummer Nathan Reedy. They then recorded their first album "Black and White Label." His father later dropped out of the band after the release of the album. This is when they added guitarist, Matt Rogers, who helped them record a live album titled "Live and Rocking." The bass player Danny Salinas joined the band in 2009, and they released their first professionally produced album titled "Six Strings One Dream." This album started what was about to become the stardom of the Cody Johnson band. The band is now composed of Cody Johnson (Singer), Jake Myers (Lead Guitar), Joey Bartula (Fiddle), Joey Pruski (Bass), Harrison Yount (Steel Guitar) and Miles Stone (Drummer). This band has release three albums since coming together and they've had a lot of success. "A Different Day", "Cowboy Like Me", and "Gotta Be Me" are the albums put out by Johnson's own label CoJo. "Cowboy Like Me" reached its peak on the Billboard top 100 country charts at number seven, while "Gotta Be Me" reached even higher with the number two spot.

Johnson has sold out shows all across the country. He is the only unsigned artist to sell out NRG Stadium in Houston. He will also be playing at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas at the end of the month. Johnson has recently signed a major-record deal which came to a surprise by most, as he had used his own label for most of his career. He turned down several major deals before signing with Warner Music Nashville.
The Cody Johnson band will be releasing its new album under their new label called, "Ain't Nothing To It," which will be released on January 18, but is available for presell right now on Cody Johnson's website.
Johnson will be performing with Jon Wolfe and Parker McCollum at the San Angelo Coliseum. Tickets are available online here.
