Midland Co. Sheriff's Office Charges Father with Capital Murder of His Own Child

MIDLAND, TX – A Midland Man was charged with capital murder after deputies believe he caused the death of his child.

According to multiple reports, on Dec. 5 at around 7:45 p.m., deputies with the Midland County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the Midland Memorial Hospital for the report of an unresponsive child. When the deputies arrived, they were informed that an 11-month-old died from injuries related to domestic abuse or negligence.

During the MCSO's investigation it was learned that the child had been in the custody of the father, 29-year-old Dylan McKay O'Neal. O'Neal has been arrested and charged with Capital Murder. Along with the father, two other men have been arrested for attempting to hide O'Neal from the deputies.

Zachery Tyler O'Neal, 25, and Paul Anthony Hernandez, 55, were charged with Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution after the two attempted to hide O'Neal in his brother Zachery's RV.

As of Thursday morning, Zachery O'Neal and Hernandez have both bonded out of the Midland County Jail. Dylan O'Neal however has not. If convicted of his crime, O'Neal could face the death penalty.
