SAN ANGELO, TX — Voters in San Angelo approved two major bond proposals and elected a new mayor during the May 3 election, according to unofficial results released by the Tom Green County Elections Office.
San Angelo ISD’s $397 million Bond 2025 passed with 5,604 votes in favor and 4,715 against. The bond will fund projects including a new Glenn Middle School campus, upgrades to Central and Lake View high schools, and improvements to elementary and high school facilities across the district. The district estimated the bond would cost taxpayers about $22.72 per month for a home valued at $200,000.
Also approved was a $41.6 million bond to renovate the CRC Roofers Coliseum, with 5,428 votes in favor and 4,806 against. Planned improvements include 3,000 new grandstand seats, 2,150 skybox and club level seats, 233 lavatories, 95 urinals, 204 toilets, 44 ADA-accessible seats, and a new exterior design.
In city elections, Thomas “Tom” Thompson won the mayoral race with 5,087 votes, defeating Gary Jenkins, Trinidad Aguirre Jr., Josh Burleson, and Juan Acevedo. In the race for the District 2 city council seat, Dudra Butler and Joe Self Jr. will head to a runoff in June. Patrick Keely won the District 4 council seat with 506 votes.
Results are unofficial until they are canvassed at the May 14, 2025 City Council meeting, according to the City of San Angelo.

Youths today don't know how good they have it. Back in the 20th century, teachers used to wheel in a huge cathode ray TV set and have students take notes, from a VHS tape, in cursive! And that was a treat!
And the teachers were all spiteful and sexually repressed, like nuns. None of this blue-haired, hippy nonsense and cradle robbing like you see all over the news today!
