Smoke Fills San Angelo Walmart Sunday Evening

SAN ANGELO, TX — Shoppers at the South Bryant Walmart were evacuated Sunday evening after smoke filled parts of the store.

The call came in around 7 p.m. for a reported structure fire at the Walmart located at 3440 S. Bryant Blvd. Video from inside shows heavy smoke drifting through multiple aisles. The smoke was heavier near the grocery side of the store.

According to emergency dispatch audio, firefighters reported no visible flames upon arrival but said smoke was still thick throughout the building. Crews worked to ventilate the store and clear the air.

Social media posts from shoppers described a strong smell of smoke and confusion as customers continued shopping before employees began directing everyone outside.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the incident remains under investigation.
