South Bryant Crash Injures 3, Cause Not Determined Because Everyone Involved Says They Had a Green Light

SAN ANGELO, TX — A 2-vehicle crash in the 4200 block of S. Bryant Blvd. near the south Motel 6 has the southbound lanes closed. This is also the intersection of Ben Ficklin Rd. and S. Bryant.

A second ambulance was called to the scene. Over the radio, we heard one person had lacerations on her face. The crash happened just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

One lane southbound is open now. The second ambulance arrives at the crash scene:

Update 1:18 p.m.

According to SAPD Traffic Investigator Brian Bylsma, the investigation is incomplete. More on that later.

Bylsma stated the Ener-Tel Toyota Tundra was southbound on Bryant. As the truck entered the Ben Ficklin Road intersection, the Ford Fusion entered that intersection at the same time causing the two vehicles to collide.

The Ener-Tel truck’s driver was the sole occupant. The Fusion had four souls onboard. Three of the Fusion’s occupants went to the hospital with minor injuries. The Ener-Tel truck driver complained of soreness, but refused treatment at the scene, Bylsma said.

Bylsma stated that the traffic light is the key to determining the cause, and at this stage of the investigation, he has not been able to definitely determine which driver had the right-of-way. Citations are pending if or when that determination is made, he said.
