Update 1:18 p.m.
According to SAPD Traffic Investigator Brian Bylsma, the investigation is incomplete. More on that later.
Bylsma stated the Ener-Tel Toyota Tundra was southbound on Bryant. As the truck entered the Ben Ficklin Road intersection, the Ford Fusion entered that intersection at the same time causing the two vehicles to collide.
The Ener-Tel truck’s driver was the sole occupant. The Fusion had four souls onboard. Three of the Fusion’s occupants went to the hospital with minor injuries. The Ener-Tel truck driver complained of soreness, but refused treatment at the scene, Bylsma said.
Bylsma stated that the traffic light is the key to determining the cause, and at this stage of the investigation, he has not been able to definitely determine which driver had the right-of-way. Citations are pending if or when that determination is made, he said.

PermalinkThe Motel 6 sign is now painted over and covered up. I believe someone was operating under false pretenses. I dont believe motel 6 would allow an old building like that to be a Motel6. Your article and our discussion probably brought falsehood to light!

PermalinkMaybe one or both of the drivers thought they were at the Motel 6 a little further north. One of them might have thought they needed an egg McMuffin. The light might have been green up there.
