TUSCOLA, TX — A Brady man was ejected and seriously injured early Tuesday after fleeing from a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper and crashing in Tuscola, authorities stated.
DPS identified the driver as Jeremy Clarence Morgan, 29, of Brady. Around 6 a.m., a trooper attempted to stop Morgan in a white Ford work pickup on U.S. 83 for a traffic violation on the south side of town.
Instead of stopping, Morgan sped north on U.S. 83, lost control in a curve, left the roadway, traveled through a drainage ditch, and entered the Lowe’s grocery store parking lot, DPS stated. The pickup struck several objects, overturned, and came to rest on railroad tracks near the lot.
Morgan, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He sustained incapacitating injuries and was transported to Hendrick Hospital.
The investigation is ongoing, and criminal charges are pending, according to DPS.
