One Dead, One Injured in Irion County Crash on U.S. 67

 

BARNHART, TX — A head-on collision in Irion County left one man dead and another driver injured early Thursday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened at 7:07 a.m. on U.S. 67, about two miles west of Barnhart. DPS said a 2026 Ford F-250 driven by Kristen Suzanne Upchurch, 38, of McCamey, was traveling east when it crossed into the wrong lane and struck a 2023 Ford F-150.

The driver of the second vehicle, identified as 30-year-old Austin Ray Sanchez of Eden, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Judge Donna Smith.

Upchurch suffered minor injuries and was taken to Reagan County Memorial Hospital.

Trooper Juan Solis of the Texas Highway Patrol investigated the crash with assistance from the Irion County Sheriff’s Office. DPS reported the weather was clear and road conditions were dry at the time.
