Teen's Murder Remains Unsolved Three Years Later

ABILENE, TX – Nearly three years after a Levelland teen was found hanging from a tree, her death remains unsolved.

Back in April of 2018, the medical examiner called Jeannie Quinn's death a "staged hanging."

According to the Abilene Police Department, a few days before her death Quinn was last seen with 59-year-old Ricky Don Henderson.

Henderson told police the victim has traveled with him to Abilene and they got into a fight. According to Henderson, Quinn became angry and dropped him off a secluded road, and drove away.

Henderson has been a person of interest in the case but has not been formally charged in connection to the case.

But Henderson is no stranger to law enforcement. Back in 1993, Henderson's wife, Stephanie, disappeared mysteriously and was never found.

At that time Stephanie's grandmother told authorities her granddaughter had called her from Levelland and told her she wanted to leave her husband.

The grandmother then drove from San Angelo to Levelland and Henderson told her Stephanie was in Hobbs, New Mexico with friends.

Henderson's story had multiple inconsistencies and eventually, a missing person's report was filed. For more than a quarter of a century Stephanie's case remained unsolved.

After violating his parole when he was found in possession of THC, Henderson pled guilty to the drug charge and was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2019.

Earlier this month, a Hockley County Grand Jury finally indicted Henderson for the murder of his wife.

John Quinn, the victim's uncle, told local media he will continue to fight for justice for Quinn.

"I want to hear what happened which I don't think we ever will," said Quinn.

He said he met with Henderson four times last year in jail.

"I was trying to get him to have inconsistencies in his story," said Quinn.

The Abilene Police Department continues working the case and says Henderson remains a suspect.
