San Angelo Man Sentenced to 15 Years After Pleading Guilty in 2023 Murder Case

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been sentenced to 15 years of confinement in the penitentiary after pleading guilty to being a party to the 2023 murder of 19-year-old Jacob Hernandez.

Kristopher Lozano, 20, entered the plea as part of an agreement with prosecutors in exchange for cooperating with the investigation into the August 2023 shooting on East 34th Street. Lozano and Nicholas Martinez were both indicted for murder in Tom Green County in November 2023.

Police Reveal How Jacob Hernandez Was Gunned Down and Murdered

Evidence showed that Martinez was the individual who fatally shot Hernandez. Surveillance video, DNA from the murder weapon, and witness statements all pointed to Martinez as the shooter.

The punishment falls within the agreed range of 5 to 15 years for First Degree Felony Murder.

Lozano will serve his sentence in a facility designated by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He will be eligible for parole after serving at least half of his sentence.
