Texas Mom, Church Volunteer Sentenced to Prison for Molesting Son’s 13-Year-Old Friend

ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX — A former church volunteer from Rockwall County spent her Mother’s Day behind bars after being convicted of indecency with a child involving her son’s 13-year-old friend.

Jurors found 46-year-old Natalie Sorrells guilty on two counts of indecency with child sexual conduct, according to court records. She was acquitted of two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. A judge sentenced her to two-and-a-half years on each count, to be served consecutively, totaling five years in prison.

The abuse reportedly occurred in 2023 and involved at least two incidents: one in a car after Sorrells picked the boy up from a football game, and another at a birthday party for her son, according to an arrest affidavit cited by local Fox affiliate KDFW.

Police began investigating after the victim’s mother discovered deleted text messages between her son and Sorrells, including messages in which she allegedly called him “babe.” The boy later disclosed the abuse during a forensic interview at the Rockwall Children’s Advocacy Center, KDFW reported.

The boy also alleged that Sorrells’ husband had contacted him during one encounter and questioned whether she was cheating. Investigators were also told Sorrells provided the teen and his friends with alcohol and tobacco.

Sorrells was arrested in February 2024 and released after serving six days in jail. She later posted bond. Her attorney did not immediately provide comment.

At the time of her arrest, Sorrells was a volunteer youth worker at Lakepointe Church in Rockwall. The church issued a statement to KDFW clarifying that the alleged abuse did not occur at a church event or on church property and that the minor was not under her direct supervision during any church activity. Sorrells was immediately removed from her volunteer role.
