Murder Suspect Captured in Sonora Following 'Intensive Search'

SONORA, TX — A man wanted for murder and considered "armed and extremely dangerous" was captured without incident Wednesday afternoon in Sonora following an "intensive" multi-agency search.

Austin John Rodriguez, 30, was taken into custody around 4 p.m. on W. 2nd Street, according to a report by The Devil's River News.

His arrest was confirmed in a community notice from the City of Sonora just before 4:30 p.m., which credited the “great team effort” of the Sonora Police Department, Sutton County Sheriff’s Office, and Texas Rangers.

Rodriguez was the subject of a community alert issued earlier in the day, which warned residents not to approach him and to report any information to law enforcement.

Further details regarding the arrest have not yet been released.
