GoFundMe Established for Family of Sonora Shooting Victim

SAN ANGELO, TX — A GoFundMe has been created to cover funeral expenses and support the family of a Sonora woman who died Wednesday due to her injuries from a shooting.

Cynthia Luna, a mother of six, was reportedly shot multiple times Tuesday night by Austin Rodriguez, according to the Sonora Police Department.

Luna died in the early morning hours of Wednesday at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

An alert was issued Wednesday in Sutton County by law enforcement that Rodriguez was wanted for murder.

He was captured later that afternoon in Sonora. The manhunt was a coordinated effort between the Sonora Police Department, Sutton County Sheriff’s Office, DPS, Texas Rangers and U.S. Marshals.

“The Sonora Police Department extends its gratitude to these agencies for their assistance, their tremendous courage, and their quick response, as well as to the Sutton County Volunteer Fire Department, Lillian Memorial Hudspeth Hospital Staff, Sutton County EMS and Texas Department of Transportation for their support during this critical operation,” Sonora PD released in a statement.
