HOUSTON — A 19-year-old woman has been charged with murder and aggravated assault in connection with two separate shooting incidents near METRO bus stops in northwest Houston.
Asia Chyal Law was charged after allegedly opening fire on a vehicle near a bus stop on July 14, and fatally shooting a man the following day after he attacked a METRO bus driver, according to court documents.
In the first incident, Law allegedly confronted a McDonald's employee on Tidwell Road over a delay in receiving a cup of water. The employee told investigators that Law became agitated, threatened her, and threw water before leaving. Later, while the employee was driving near the 6500 block of Tidwell, she spotted Law at a METRO bus stop. Law allegedly opened fire on the vehicle, striking it at least once. Officers later recovered shell casings at the scene.
On July 15, officers responded to reports of a fatal shooting aboard a METRO bus on Antoine Drive near Pinemont. Investigators said a man had assaulted the bus driver and exited the vehicle before Law, who was not involved in the altercation, allegedly followed him and shot him to death.
Surveillance footage from the scene and a tip from Law’s ex-girlfriend, who said Law confessed to the killing, and led to her arrest.
Law is currently facing one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault.
