SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been arrested after allegedly pistol whipping a man and sexually assaulting a woman during a robbery.
Lorenzo Rueda, 30, of San Angelo, was arrested on July 31, 2025, for robbery.
According to court documents, two San Angelo police officers responded to the Best Western, 1418 N. Bryant Blvd., regarding a robbery that occurred in the 600 block of W. 15th St. Officers advised that a man and his fiancée were assaulted and robbed by two unknown male subjects and that the male victim had been pistol whipped.
While officers were searching the robbery scene, a nearby homeowner exited her residence and told officers what she observed. That homeowner went back inside her residence and told everyone to leave, including the two suspects. Both were handcuffed and placed inside a patrol vehicle.
The investigator spoke with the woman who said that the defendant, identified as Rueda, came to their tent shining a light, stating that he was the property landowner and that they needed to pack up and move. Rueda reportedly threatened to sexually assault the woman if they did not move their personal property.
The man got dressed then exited the tent to speak with Rueda. The two began talking about being disrespectful to each other, according to the affidavit.
Then, the man came back to the tent and told his fiancée to get dressed to “have his back." After she got dressed, she observed the victim and Rueda walking towards each other in the middle of the field. Rueda told them to put their hands up and empty their pockets. He asked the man if he had any weapons, to which the victim replied he had a knife, a hatchet and a metal pole.
Rueda began emptying the man's pockets while standing in the field then punched him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. Rueda then began emptying the woman's pockets, followed by grabbing her breasts and punching her twice in the face. It was after this that Rueda pistol whipped the man, according to the affidavit.
Rueda told them both to get up and run or he was going to shoot them. The two got up and said they ran towards the tent, then headed towards the Best Western, where cops were called.
The investigator then spoke with the male victim, who said he was woken up in the middle of the night by Rueda shining a flashlight towards his tent. He got dressed and when he exited the tent, Rueda made a derogatory statement about the victim’s fiancée, he said. He said that a confrontation did not occur at the time and that he did not want any problems with anyone.
The victim stated that he would remove his property in the morning when the sun came out, but Rueda said to leave now. The victim said he was not leaving at the moment and at that point he heard a gun cock back. He then gave up and did not want his fiancée or himself to be shot over the property.
Rueda was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail and is being held without bond.
