Man Indicted for Posting Explicit Photo Without Consent

SAN ANGELO, TX — A 42-year-old man has been indicted in Tom Green County on a charge of publishing an intimate image without consent, a felony offense that has been enhanced due to his prior criminal record.

Raymond Joseph Butler, of Bowie, Texas, was booked into the Tom Green County Jail on Aug. 4 and released the following day on a $40,000 surety bond, according to jail records. A judge also ordered that he have no contact with the victim.

According to the indictment, Butler allegedly disclosed a photograph on or about Oct. 21, 2024, showing a woman in a sexual context without her consent and with the intent to cause her harm. The image revealed the woman’s identity, and prosecutors say the release caused her to feel embarrassed, harassed, or offended.

Butler’s charge — “Publish or Threaten to Publish Intimate Visual Material” — was enhanced to a second-degree felony based on two prior felony convictions. Court records show he was convicted in 2006 in Cooke County for possession of chemicals with intent to manufacture a controlled substance, and again in 2022 for assault involving the obstruction of breathing.

The case has been assigned to the 391st District Court.
