ANDREWS, TX –– After Friday afternoon's horrific tragedy involving Andrews ISD marching band, the Sweetwater ISD band is stepping up.

The school's band director and an employee were killed after being hit head-on by a driver in an F-350. The band was on its way to Sweetwater for the Area playoff game against Springtown.

The school district made the announcement on Facebook on Sunday afternoon.

"The Sweetwater High School band will play in place of the Mighty Mustang Marching Band at the Area playoff game. Thank you to the many schools that volunteered. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity. #MustangPride"

The game has been rescheduled for today at 2:00 p.m. in Sweetwater.

Sweetwater ISD also shared the news on social media with the following message.

"Mustang Pride! Let us all come together and support each other. We are happy to hopefully produce a small spark of positivity. Praying for all affected."
