Two Texas Teens Killed in Rollover Crash, School District Confirms

O'DONNELL, TX – Two teens in West Texas were killed in a rollover crash on Thursday.

According to multiple reports, on Dec. 14, 2022 just after 8 p.m., troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety were dispatched to FM 2053, just outside of O'Donnell, for the report of a rollover crash. O'Donnell is between Lubbock and Lamesa on US 87.

When they arrived, the troopers discovered a pickup that had rolled into the ditch. There were three occupants inside the vehicle; Jadyn Boyd, 18, a 15-year-old passenger, and a 15-year-old unidentified driver. Boyd and the 15-year-old were pronounced dead at the scene while the driver was taken to UMC in Lubbock with serious injuries.

The troopers' investigation revealed that that the pickup was west on FM 2053 drifted left across the eastbound last and into the south ditch. This cause a series of overcorrections into both lanes which ended with the truck rolling over in the south ditch.

It is being reported the Boyd was a recent graduate from Klondike High School and that she is from Lamesa. The other two in the vehicle were O'Donnell ISD Students.

The school put out the following statement on the crash:

We regret to inform you that there has been an accident involving O’Donnell ISD students. The school will be open tomorrow at the regular time and buses will run but we will not be taking attendance. All events and semester tests scheduled for tomorrow are cancelled. We will have counselors available at both the elementary and secondary campuses. The counselors will arrive at 9:00 and will be available for students, parents, faculty, staff and community members. O’Donnell has continued to love and support one another through difficult times, and we will once again need to support and pray for each other during this time. The district will seek to support families involved in any way possible.
