San Angelo ISD To Host College Financial Aid Sessions

SAN ANGELO, TX - As the application window for federal college student aid for the 2024-25 school year approaches, San Angelo ISD is gearing up to assist students and their families in navigating  financial aid.

Come the end of December 2023, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid will open its doors, allowing college students and their families to vie for a piece of the $150 billion in financial assistance.

To shed light on this crucial process, SAISD is organizing informational sessions on both FAFSA and the Texas Application for State Financial Aid.

The primary goal of these free sessions is to guide parents and students through the application process for both FAFSA and TASFA.

These applications play a pivotal role in helping families secure financial aid, including grants, loans, and work-study opportunities that align with their specific needs.

Given the competitive nature of these funds, families are strongly encouraged to complete and submit the FAFSA/TASFA promptly, even if they are uncertain about their student's educational plans for the upcoming year.

Students and families can make an appointment with their campus counseling office to attend a one-on-one session to help with the application process and answer your questions:

Central High School (Central students ONLY):

  • Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024

  • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • By appointment only, using the FAFSA Appointment Sign-Up Form

  • Monday, Jan. 22, 2024 to Friday, Jan. 26, 2024

  • 8 a.m. to  4 p.m.

  • By appointment only, using the FAFSA Appointment Sign-Up Form

Lake View High School (Lake View students ONLY):

  • 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • FAFSA/TASFA sessions can be scheduled by calling the Lake View Counseling Center at 325-659-3500

Regardless of the chosen session, families and students are advised to bring specific documentation, including Social Security/DACA numbers, student's driver's license, federal income tax returns for both student and parents, parent and student alien registration card (if applicable), and FSA ID/Username and Password.

Understanding the diverse circumstances of parents, SAISD acknowledges that some may opt to complete the FAFSA application on their own time.

In such cases, an opt-out form is available, and interested parties are encouraged to contact their student's counselor for more information.

For inquiries or additional information, please reach out to the SAISD Assessment and Counseling Department at 325-947-3838 or visit the SAISD FAFSA information webpage.
