Explosion Rocks Structure Fire Southeast of San Angelo Monday

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Firefighters from across the Concho Valley were called to a large house fire off of Highway 277 on Monday afternoon.

According to our reporters on the scene, on Aug. 7, 2023, at around 2:15 p.m., firefighters from the Pecan Creek and Christoval Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to the 1200 block of Choctaw Ave. for the report of a structure fire.

Choctaw Ave. is in a mobile home park off Reece Rd. and U.S. 277 South. 

Once on the scene, crews discovered that multiple structures and several vehicles were on fire. The Wall Volunteer Fire Department, the Dove Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and Texas A&M Forest Service were then called in for support.

Reporters confirmed that explosion an was heard during the fire.

Smoke could be seen from several miles away.
