SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Independent School District Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on Monday, June 2, at 8 a.m. to consider a $305,000 change order for the Central Oakes sewer line replacement project.
The meeting will take place in the board room of the SAISD Administration Building at 1621 University Ave. The agenda includes public comment and discussion of Bid #25-001, which pertains to unanticipated construction issues discovered during the initial phase of the project.
According to district documents, the original work involved replacing 150 feet of sanitary sewer line, several floor drains, and P-traps. However, crews discovered that the existing drain lines were too deteriorated to connect with the new infrastructure. After consulting with the plumber and engineering firm Parkhill, district staff determined that 220 additional feet of tunneling are needed to replace deteriorated drain lines. The change order also includes costs for bonds, permits, tile work, flowable fill, and a new grease trap.
The administration is recommending approval of the change order, with the intent to complete all work before the start of the school year. Precision Plumbing Solutions, the contractor on the project, provided the updated pricing.
The recommendation was submitted by Jason A. Henry, Director of Purchasing, and approved for board consideration by Superintendent Dr. Christopher Moran.
