City Offices Closed for Veterans Day, Ceremony Announced

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — City offices in San Angelo will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day to honor the service of all U.S. military veterans. Offices will reopen Wednesday, Nov. 12, according to the City of San Angelo.

Garbage collection and landfill operations will continue as usual.

Fort Concho, including the Barracks 1 Visitor Center, will remain open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday for self-guided tours. Veterans and their families will receive free admission.

City Services Closed

The following city services will be closed on Veterans Day:

  • Animal shelter (for emergencies, call 325-657-4315)

  • Municipal Court

  • Planning & Development Services

  • Southside and Carl Ray Johnson recreation centers

  • Station 618 and Santa Fe Crossing senior centers

  • Water billing

  • WIC offices

Veterans Day Ceremony

A Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Veterans Section of Fairmount Cemetery, 1120 W. Avenue N. The event is free and open to the public.

Highlights of the ceremony include performances by the Central High School Junior ROTC, ceremonial salutes by Fort Concho, musical performances by Chris Morgan, Andrea Thompson, and Dorothy Douthit, and appearances by Police Chief Travis Griffith and Sheriff Nick Hanna.
