San Angelo Transit Services Suspended, Travel Strongly Discouraged

SAN ANGELO, TX — Concho Valley Transit suspended all bus operations immediately Saturday morning due to hazardous icy roadways and widespread black ice, while the Texas Department of Transportation urged motorists to avoid travel across multiple West Texas counties affected by snow and ice.

The transit district announced the suspension, citing public safety concerns for passengers, operators, and the general public. CVT officials said they will continue monitoring weather and road conditions and provide updates on service resumption through official channels.

Separately, the TxDOT San Angelo District reported snow and ice impacting roadways in Tom Green, Coke, Runnels, Concho, Sterling, Glasscock, and Reagan counties. In a Saturday morning advisory, the agency warned drivers to avoid travel if possible and to exercise extreme caution if travel is unavoidable.

TxDOT recommended checking real-time road conditions at DriveTexas.org and monitoring weather forecasts at weather.gov, noting that conditions can change rapidly.

Photos posted by TxDOT showed icy conditions on major routes, including Southwest Boulevard at Loop 306 in San Angelo.
