No. 23 Angelo State Run Rules A&M Kingsville for Game 1 Win

SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 23 Angelo State Rams opened up their weekend home series against Texas A&M Kingsville with a run-rule victory in eight innings, 15-5.

A massive 7-run scoring barrage in the bottom of the 8th handed the Rams a Game 1 win on Friday night, April 13, in San Angelo.

The Javelinas took an early, 2-run lead, but Angelo State roared back in the bottom of the 3rd to take a 7-2 lead and never trailed again. Jacob Guerrero kicked off the 8th inning with an RBI double to left field before Tripp Clark hit a 3-run shot to extend the lead to 11-7.

Thanks to some walks, the Rams loaded the bases after that, and an error later in the inning pushed the score to 14-5. Finally, Guerrero came up to bat for a second time in the inning and hit an RBI single to end the game.

With the victory in Game 1, the Rams improved to 27-12 (25-12 LSC). Angelo State resumes the four-game series with Texas A&M Kingsville on Saturday with a doubleheader. Game 2 is scheduled for 4 p.m.
